November, 2023 Update

It’s been a wild bunch of years indeed. My shop is currently in storage as I’m now living in Austin, Texas. It is still my goal to eventually get my shop back up and running, though I have no ETA on when that might happen. For now, please feel free to check out my knife gallery or read/watch my crafting method info. Hope to be back on the forge sooner rather than later!

Rebirth – 2017

In a year of transformation, it seemed appropriate that the West Coast Bladecraft forge be reborn into the Fenix Fire Forge! (And the fact that the ‘West Coast’ part doesn’t really apply anymore). Much more info to come, so stay tuned for more info as I get my shop up and running from my new home in Rockville, Maryland!!

Shop Update: September 2016

Well it has been a crazy and interesting last couple of years. While I was originally going to share a shop with Phil Hartsfield, he had to unexpectedly move out of the area and my shop has been in storage since. I’ve had some great experiences and opportunities in that time, met some amazing people, and hopefully created something awesome for them. Now, though, it seems that it’s time to get back to the forge. I’m looking at a couple shop possibilities right now that should have me back to swinging at hot steel by the end of the year!

I’ve added a couple of my older Phoenix Series Cutlery knives to the ‘For Sale’ listing. The Ambonia Burl Chef knife and the Buckeye Burl paring knife were both prototypes in the series and never previously listed for sale. Current For Sale knives are listed below. This will be the last lot before I get a new shop up and running!

I’ve also added a few new pictures of some other Phoenix Series knives that have been sold. There is a new Manzanita handle chefs knife and two new Phoenix Paring knives…one with Ebony and the other with Goncalo Alves. Check them out HERE!

Shop Update: May 2014

My apologies for the long delay between updates…it’s been a wild year! Biggest news is that we just moved my knife shop this past weekend. I’m now sharing a shop with renowned knifemaker Phill Hartsfield! It’s truly a great honor and a great opportunity to be working in the same shop with one of the most prominent knifemakers in the world. Check out Phill’s knives at PhillHartsfield.com!

A huge thanks again to everyone who came and helped with the move!! While all of my equipment is moved, it will still take me another week or two before everything is dialed-in and functional. As I will also be moving my residence in a few weeks, it will, realistically, be the middle of June before everything settles down. We will likely do an open house/shop-warming get together around the latter part of June. Anyone local to the area I invite to come by…I’ll give you more details as it gets closer!

Below are some pictures of us deconstructing the shop before moving it over to Phill’s place. I’ll post pictures from the new shop once everything gets situated and dialed in!

For more information on the show, check out Plaza Cutlery’s website HERE!!

I’ll have better images of the knives I will have at the show a little later…but here’s a couple pics of the lot!

I’ve just completed the newest addition to my Operator Series blades…the Urinagi Short Sword. Based on a Japanese Nagamaki blade, the Urinagi is scaled down to 30 inches overall making it an excellent companion for survival or tactical applications. This has already become one of my favorite blades and you can be sure I’ll make more of these! Click the images below to go to the Urinagi Short Sword page!

Phoenix Series – The Kitchen Knife Reborn

Phoenix Series – The Kitchen Knife Reborn

I’ve added pictures of the prototypes of my new Phoenix Series kitchen knives. The fruition of years of experience in the sales of high end kitchen cutlery matched with gathering feedback from the chefs who actually use them, have heavily influenced the design of these knives. Check out all the Phoenix Series knives HERE!

The beautiful ceramics that are photographed with these knives are hand crafted by local Southern California artist Delphine. I urge you check out more of her amazing work at her website, Humble Ceramics!
